Yearly Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

Thanksgiving is a yearly celebration that frequently takes place in many parts of the world.  Where and how it is observed around the globe however depends entirely on the geographical location and local culture.

In Canada, for instance, this event is typically celebrated on the second Monday in October in order to give thanks at the close of the harvest season.  In the West Indian island of Grenada, this celebration often takes place around October 25 as a sour reminder of the US-led invasion of that Caribbean island in 1983.  In Rwanda, this festivity is marked on the first Friday of August to highlight the start of the harvest.

But here in the United States (US) where this festivity is observed on the fourth Thursday in November, people will usually take the time to ponder on all of the activities undertaken during the year, to count on all of their blessings including the harvest, and to reflect on their relationship with their love ones, friends, neighbors, colleagues and their divine.  Common practices during that time include attending church services, sharing a big turkey dinner with family and watching sporting events together.

In keeping with that spirit of Thanksgiving celebration while remaining engaged with the community, the Naitiah Group has developed the turkey giveaway initiative.  Covid-19 notwithstanding, this initiative has been in operation for the last four years where between 50 to 60 families are randomly selected to receive a whole fresh turkey with a Thanksgiving card.  Based from the typical compliments and overall feedbacks received from the community, the initiative has been a complete success.
